Flower export revenue in Lam Dong province has risen sharply in recent years, accounting for 70 percent of the province’s total export revenue.
In 2008, it was US$9.6 million and jumped to US$13 million last year. In 2010, it is expected to reach nearly US$16 million.
Businesses in Lam Dong also ship dried flowers, which are now in high demand.
Lam Dong has applied modern technologies in flower cultivation in its two main flower regions, Da Lat and Duc Trong. Businesses in these regions have an annual net profit of VND2 billion per hectare.
The province’s main export markets include Japan, the Republic of Korea, Belgium, Thailand, Australia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Cambodia, France and Holland.
